Silverchair’s ‘Yellow Submarine’ video online

Triple J have posted videos of Silverchair’s live performance of If You Keep Losing Sleep and Yellow Submarine online.

Daniel, Chris and Ben appeared on Triple J last week to perform The Beatles’ song and talk about their new album.

The videos are embedded below, but you can see slightly larger versions at the Triple J website here.

[UPDATE – 1 May 2010: There seems to be some issues with the embedded videos, but don’t worry, you can now download better quality versions right here!

YouTube Tuesday #02

With much of Newcastle still under water it seemed appropriate to feature a Silverchair song about natural disaster on this week’s edition of YouTube Tuesday.

Faultline was written about the 1989 Newcastle earthquake which killed 13 people and caused extensive damage around the city.

This performance took place on 21 January 2001 in front of over 250,000 people at the Rock In Rio Festival.

Visions (of a sound)

Reflections Of A Sound

The new video for Reflections Of A Sound has made its debut online.

You can check it out at Silverchair’s official site or their MySpace page.

What do you think of the video? Was Reflections… the right choice for a second single? Once you’ve watched the video please come back and leave a comment by clicking on the link below.

Still no news from the record company on a CD single. Stay tuned for details…

YouTube Tuesday #1

It’s easy to forget just how young Silverchair were when Frogstomp hit in the States in 1995/96.

While their mates were at school in Newcastle, Ben, Chris and Daniel were supporting the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Madison Square Garden in New York.

This video is a great example of how much the band – and their music – have changed over the past ten years. It also begs the question, will we ever hear these songs live again? I’d say “no”.

So enjoy this rocking performance. It’s the first of a regular series of rare and interesting videos I’ll feature every Tuesday from the YouTube vaults. Don’t forget to check back next week for the next instalment.

Silverchair's 'One Night Stand'

The Australian music channel JTV has posted some beautiful live footage of Silverchair performing Young Modern Station at Cowra’s One Night Stand festival on April 20.

You can check it out along with a couple of band interviews here.

Apparently the full concert will be broadcast on JTV in July. Hopefully they’ll also put it online for the rest of us.

Silverchair on Sunrise

Silverchair performed an acoustic version of Reflections of a Sound live on Aussie breakfast program Sunrise this morning.

Check out the link below for a clip of the song and short interview with the guys. Why was the performance cut halfway through? Only the producers of Sunrise could tell us that. Perhaps if they had told Molly (the guy in the hat) to shut his gob we would have got more music and less of his inane banter…

Update: An edited, better quality clip has just been posted featuring the performance (but no interview)

Straight Lines on Rove

Silverchair performed a rockin’ version of Straight Lines on Australian television program Rove last night.

Is that Julian Hamilton next to Paul Mac on keyboards?
