Silverchair in the UK

It has been a busy day over at Silverchair HQ.

In addition to their appearance at Lollapalooza (see below) the band have announced a run of UK dates.

10-Aug-2007 – Brixton Academy, London, UK (
11-Aug-2007 – Corn Exchange, Edinburgh, UK (
12-Aug-2007 – Ritz, Manchester, UK (
13-Aug-2007 – Rock City, Nottingham, UK (

The London show is shaping up to be huge. The Brixton Academy holds over twice as many people (4921 to be exact) as the last venue Silverchair played in the capital (the Shepherds Bush Empire in 2003).

There’s a great Wikipedia entry about the history of the Brixton Academy. On 10 August 2007 it will likely be full to bursting with ex-pat Aussies living in London (like me).

Silverchair rock Lollapalooza

It’s been a while, but Silverchair are finally back on the US summer festival circuit.

Today the band announced they’d be playing the Lollapalooza Festival festival in Chicago in early August.

All you Americans (and Canadians) keep an eye on the official site for more info.

After the success of the February shows I’m hoping they announce some more headline dates in the US soon.
