Australian Musician magazine

Australian Musician magazine has awarded Silverchair a position in their ‘Top 50 most significant moments in Australian pop and rock history’.

They made ninth place for their achievement of having all five albums reach #1 on the Australian charts.

The list was compiled by a group of Australian ‘rock experts’ (did they study geology at university?). It includes the farewell concert of Crowded House, the death of AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, the Beatles’ Australian tour in 1964 and the Olympic Games “Sorry” protest by Midnight Oil.

The number one position was awarded to the meeting of Harry Vanda and George Young (who later formed popular 1960s band The Easybeats and wrote the classic song Friday On My Mind.)

A full report on the list can be found here.

Australian fans can pick up a copy of the mag for free at various music shops around the country. For a full list of retailers check out the Australian Musician web site here.
